Surrender isn’t Easy…
“The greatness of the man’s power is the measure of his surrender” – William Booth.
Surrender isn’t Easy… Luckily We’re Here to Help. For many of us, the act of surrendering is not something that comes easily. We’re wary of giving up our perceived control over a situation for fear of what might happen if we’re not there to manage and manipulate. However, there is certainly something to be said for taking a step back and knowing when to ‘let go’…
Surrendering allows you to relinquish attachments to ideas and events and only by releasing these negative holds can you truly be present, enjoying and fully experiencing each of life’s precious moments.
‘Letting go’ can make us anxious as the very act of doing so means to give up struggling, fighting or resisting. We like to think that we have ultimate control over our lives and surroundings so why would we want to give up this power? But in accepting that some things are simply out of our control and allowing this to be, this is where the true power lies – acceptance of what is and surrender of the rest.
With this acceptance not only will you free up some head space for enjoying the present moment, but you will also be able to see your personal situations more objectively and approach them with a calm and relaxed view. What will be, will be.
Surrendering is certainly not straight forward or simple. It’s a tricky process as we spend so long holding on to beliefs and ideas of how things should be, it will take a while to release this way of thinking. Listen to Claire explain why it’s important…
Focus on letting go of the illusion of controlling each aspect of your life. If it’s out of your hands then just let it be. It may sound airy fairy but trust in the universe and have faith that all is happening for a reason, even if the reason is unclear for now.
In the words of C. Joybell C…
You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy. So let them go, let go of them. I tie no weights to my ankles.
Have a beautiful weekend xo
