End of Year Ritual – Say goodbye & celebrate

I am sure that saying this year has been like no other, will come as no surprise.

Back in March/April the word bandied around was ‘unprecedented’ – the times we entered into were like none we had ever encountered before. Yet, as we come to the end of the year, last spring and its unprecedented ways seem almost a lifetime ago.

For, what was the oddest thing ever, to be locked down, has become a way of life. We no longer stand outside on our doorsteps clapping for the NHS, we routinely put on our masks to go in a shop, we swerve out of the way of strangers on a street, accept that a social night out is no longer an option (at least here in the vast part of the UK).

As we come to the end of the year, let’s take a moment to reflect on how has this affected you and how do you feel? What has gone well for you? What did you learn about yourself through these months of lockdown? Have you found yourself alone? Has it made you closer to those you love? Or has it all been too much?

The truth is, this year has affected us all differently. For some, it has led to breakthroughs and closeness yet for others, to despondency. For many, it has been a blessing and a curse simultaneously, There isn’t a right way to deal with any of what has gone on, as we have had to learn on the spot of how to deal with the uncertainties thrown our way.

All I can say is, be kind to yourself. No matter the circumstances you find yourself in. Take a moment to indulge yourself in a way that feels good to you. Cosy up with some time to meditate on what is important to you. When all around is out of our control, what is in our control is the way we take care of ourselves.

I wish you a kind new year and with hope that the pandemic eases and we enter into a time where we can all meet up freely again.

I have created an end of year ritual if you would like to join me in letting go and celebrating 2020 to usher in the New Year. Just click the video below…

You just need 30 minutes, a quiet space, 3 bowls, paper and pen and perhaps a blanket to keep you warm.
