Meditation to Remove Fear of The Future

Times have changed hugely since Claire made this video of ‘Meditation to remove fear of the future’ and our concerns about the future now have a very different aspect.

Our fear of the unknown is more so than ever as we now become anxious about all sorts of events that would have never worried us before. We may be fearful of travelling on a bus, going into a shop or being back at work or school. Even the simplest pastime we once enjoyed so much – meeting up with friends – is now a cause for anxiety.

Our uncertainty as to what the future holds has skyrocketed, so we’re sharing this beautiful meditation again, as in these worrying times, it is more helpful than ever.

Follow Dr Claire Maguire’s simple meditation for removing the fear of the future to help you face these uncertain times…

Hi, I’m Dr. Claire Maguire.

I recently did a video about embracing fear and it’s a topic that I want to come back to now, but this time through the use of meditation.

Fear is one of those things that stops us from doing anything and we can become very consumed by fear. As such, we can stay stuck or we get anxious, or we get afraid, and it can take over. We just stay in our tracks in a repetitive loop and feeling worse and worse.

Or very often, as we’re wanting to move forward, we can have a fear of the future. That is because the future is unknown. We’re moving into something that we don’t know anything about. And this can create a level of anxiety within the body and a nervousness that we can feel. We can feel that visceral feel throughout our body, the anxiety and the nerves and so therefore we think it is real.

However, the future is unknown and we don’t know whether it’s actually going to be good or bad. So why are we often choosing it to be bad? Why are we creating a fear around something that we actually have no idea about?

We could choose for it to be great. Or we could just choose for it to be neutral and that we just move into it in a way that could be explorative and beautiful, and also very magical.

So the meditation I want to share with you is a really lovely meditation to remove a fear of the future.

It is said that very often the reason that we have a fear is because the subconscious mind is trying to calculate the future and it’s trying to predict what might happen based on past experiences. For example, if you’ve been hurt in the past through a relationship, you might want to enter into a new relationship, but you’re scared because you think it’s going to hurt you again. So you perhaps hold back.

But we don’t know this is going to happen. You’re just basing this on an idea that you’ve had in the past. It’s the subconscious mind whirring away calculating and therefore creating this prediction.

So to remove this subconscious calculation, we are going to perform this beautiful meditation:

  • We place the right thumb into the centre of the left palm and you’re sort of pushing in. Then the left thumb is going to come over and cross over the right thumb. These crossed thumbs neutralizes the frantic calculations of the subconscious mind. So that’s what we want to do.
  • Then we bring the fingers of the right hand around the back of the left hand. It’s like you’re giving yourself a hug. So your right hand is hugging your left hand and now you’re giving yourself a very nice little cosmic hug.
  • The fingers of the left hand are pointing upwards and we’re going to place our hands into the heart centre. This is what’s known as a yoga mudra (a hand position).
  • As we place our hands into the heart centre we’re taking ourselves out of the head and into this space of love. The mind isn’t often as clever as we think and the heart can be way cleverer than we ever give it credit for. So we’re moving into the heart space and into a place of love, rather than a place of fear.
  • As you meditate your going to close your eyes and we can just focus on the breath. Allow the breath to be expansive as you focus into the heart.

Now there is a recommended sound track that you listen to while you do this meditation. It’s Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru, and it is really a mantra to manifest miracles. You’re calling on the miracle nature to create something possible out of the impossible. See below for the full mantra and the translation. There are lots of beautiful variations & click here for some of them.

We just sit in a meditative position. Allow the mantra to really come through you to create the miracles and to remove the fear of the future.

It’s a very beautiful meditation to do.

It’s recommended that you do it for three minutes, 11 minutes or you could go up to 31 minutes if you want to even longer.

I would like you to practice this meditation and then really feel the difference between how you were before.

If you keep up a practice with this meditation, start to see yourself coming more into this heart centre and the future becoming less fearful and just more what it is – something that we’re moving into. And that something can be miraculous and it can be amazing and it can be fun.

Enjoy this beautiful meditation.
