When’s best to set our New Year’s Resolutions?

new year resolutions

Firstly I’d like to wish you a Happy New Year. I hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas and your New Year’s Eve was amazing.

As we move into the new year there’s a lot of expectation of having to set resolutions for what we want for the year ahead, of making this new year different.

Maybe you had a hard year last year, maybe it was tough, maybe it didn’t go the way you wanted it to, maybe you had big goals and they didn’t work out.

Alternatively, perhaps you had big goals which you did achieve and now you’re ready to set even bigger ones – the momentum is there.

Is this really the right time to set New Year resolutions?

Listen to my thoughts on this…

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer on all of this, but we start off with this high expectation of what the year can unfold for us yet by the middle of January we’ve given up and we’ve wandered off doing the ‘same old same old’.

The whole excitement has disappeared and we’ve shelved whatever it is we’re wanting and put it on the ‘never ever’ list.

I want to say it’s all ok and it’s fine. It’s actually really good to get the first couple of weeks of January out of the way and then think about what you really want for the rest of the year.

Let the initial excitement of the New Year fade away, then take the time to start thinking:

What would I really like?
How can this year be different?
What would be beneficial for me?
What do I want to see unfold for this coming year that would be so awesome?

If you would like some help with this plus have some time away to relax and focus on how you could be of service to yourself, friends, family and those significant in your life then I invite you to come away on a retreat with us.
