Let’s Make This Your Most Incredible Year
The excitement of the festive season has died down, the anticipation of a new year has faded and the reality is we are now in 2016. Do you feel like its just another year? The thought of new year resolutions is they are made to be broken? Are you groaning with yet another article on let’s make this your best year ever?
I get it. We are bombarded with information and positivity about the start of a New Year and custom dictates we are to set our resolutions to be the most awesome we have ever been. Which in itself is a great philosophy to have. Why should we not, as a collective consciousness of a society, decide to move forward to make this the best year?
However, we end up probably around now – only a few days in, giving up on the idea and falling back into the old ways. Deciding that really perhaps we’re not so bad after all.
Which is why, I’ve decided to send this article out now, after the New Year, to encourage you that this is a better time to set your intentions and to start to look at your goals for the year. For the excess of the holiday season has happened and now we must look towards returning to work and the reality of the day in day out.
So I ask you:
- What would you like to be different?
- What would you like to say about yourself in a year’s time that would be unbelievably amazing?
- What would you love to experience?
- What are your desires for the upcoming year?
- What would you like to let go of?
- What would you like to bring in?
- How would you like your day to run?
- What would be the one thing that you could do today that would make the biggest change?
Then, start to look at how you sabotage yourself, what obstacles are in your way to achieve all that you wish for, what behaviours do you have that let you down, what is your attitude like? How can you remove these or at least acknowledge them and see how they can spin you out of control?
Look for the reason why you want to initiate a change – do you want more energy, to look hot, to contribute something to the world, to feel happy, to have the money to travel, to be a role model to your family and so on. This gives you the motivation to push the edge of your comfort zone.
Now start to make and plan your goals. What can you achieve in January, what can you achieve this week, what can you achieve in one day? Keep yourself accountable; keep experimenting to see what works and what doesn’t; keep feeling a sense of gratitude for all the wonderful things you experience as you go through this year; keep a sense of fun and excitement and remember that it’s ok to not be on all the time, that you don’t have to be working at your goals 24/7, that having days where you are at rest and doing something else give you the energy to keep going.
Enjoy your new year and if you need any support with making 2016 your most incredible year and/or you need accountability to reach your goals then I am also available for private coaching.
