A Plum Job

Split Farthing Hall Plums

It’s the end of summer and our plum trees are full of sweet ripe fruit. It’s a race to pick the ripe fruit before the wasps gorge themselves & make themselves drunk!

So what to do with so many plums? Smoothies and fruit leather of course!

Raw fruit leather is amazingly easy to prepare and one of my favourite smoothie recipes for our home grown plums is below:

Raw Fruit Leather Recipe:

Chia or Flax seed
Agave
Blend up the plums with a tablespoon of chia or flax and a touch of agave. Spread out on a Parraflex sheet but not too thin (about 1/4 inch). Dehydrate for about 6 hours, then flip over for another couple of hours.
Cut into strips, roll up and keep in the fridge in some Tupperware for when you need a snack. Yummily tart and chewy!

But there are still lots more plums where they came from, so we’ll see what other recipes we can concoct.
